Here's how Oakland rolls

If you watch South Park, than you know we here in San Francisco are smug. Smug enough to smell our own gas and nearly pass out daily from our own self-congratulatory haze. Well, that may be true, but Oakland is a bit different. Oakland is a little rougher. They don't have time for smugness, or for that matter, traffic laws. You've all seen how crazy the Raider games are, but it doesn't stop there...

From today's Chronicle:
Esteban Loaiza, 34, was stopped on Wednesday morning by the California Highway Patrol after he was observed at 2:40 a.m. driving his Ferrari in excess of 100 mph on Interstate 580 near San Leandro.

He was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence after officers detected what the CHP statement called "a distinct odor of alcohol ... on the driver's breath."

Loaiza, who failed several sobriety tests, was transported to North County Jail in Oakland, where he spent the night.

Today's daytime starting pitcher for the Oakland Athletics: Esteban Loaiza.

What will we tell the children?
